Dover Court Senior Department
The unique, individualised support systems employed in the Senior Department caters for students in the 11-16 years age groups from Year 7 to Year 12. Because of the individuality of the system many qualifications can be catered for but the major focus is on I.G.C.S.E.s
All through the Seniors three forms of A.L.P. are used, the Assisted Learning Programme for the student in need of educational support, the Average Learning Programme for the student who needs minimum support and time management skills and the Accelerated Learning Programme for the academically gifted offering acceleration and breadth or focus, as needs be.
These programmes combine with a naturally accelerated, adapted British National Curriculum to achieve the highest standards proven by our wonderful results since parental requests asked for our Preparatory School to expand to I.G.C.S.E. level, which can be accessed at any Senior Year Level in our system, depending on the individual.
Within the system there are eighty four possible combinations of subjects with the possibility of the student doing seventeen separate qualifications. For those students who cannot achieve the standards required for I.G.C.S.E. we have the facility of the Entry Level Examinations and have so far achieved 100% pass rates in the years we have offered this qualification.
Every year we have three curriculum linked residential excursions to ever changing locales that actually combine with student led assemblies and end of year production to complete subject objectives in many areas. Our Preparatory Studies provision is cut into the timetable, offered after school and on weekends and runs in some holidays.
All of the above systems combine to alleviate work stress at this vital time in our Students’ development and assist in our core concept of developing a happy, confident, empathic, socially mature young adult with all the tools to survive in the modern world and make a valid contribution in the field of their choice. |
